Can You Help With This Problem?

  Sony DVD home theater system
  Every time I turn on my DVD player, the video shows up on the TV for a few seconds and then just cuts out, along with the audio.
  
  At first i thought it was a sync problem, so i unhooked all the cords along with the power cords to the TV and DVD player. Waited for about ten minutes and then hooked all the cords up, with the exemption that the power cords were last. That Still didn't work.
