The only way to connect an iPod of any kind is to plug it into the front AUX IN port , The iPod uses a firmware (HFS+) that is not used on most common modern mp3 players and flash drives(FAT32). This was a bummer for me aswell, though i use the AUX In port on the front and im satisfied still. Equipment: 1 3.5mm female-to-female cord

USB? or AUXILLIARY? - FLASH? or HDD?
Are you talking about the USB port that you are trying to use? OR the AUXILIARY input? Because if you're talking about the "USB" It will only read "FLASH MEMORY" so if your iPod has a "HARD DRIVE" then, sorry, no luck. I had the same problem with my deck... I was surprised, but- Hey! At least you can get HUGE amounts of flash drive now a days for a cheap price!
Solution:
Do what "tylermclean" has done, use the AUXILLARY input :] It does worlds of use, the only downside is maybe a little lack of quality, and you won't be able to see the mp3 tags.
Hope this helped. E-mail with any further questions!
