Error 1 and 2, USB ERR...

I'm having a problem playing CDs and MP3's via USB Stick. I've only had the system for < 6 months. When I pop in a CD, the system appears to be trying to eject the CD, or make a similar noise then Error 1 or 2 is displayed on the screen. For USB, I put in a USB stick (tried with 1 GB and 2 GB capacities), and after some time I get a USB ERR.
