I want to set the Entertainment on my DEH-P780MP, ...

I want to set the Entertainment on my DEH-P780MP, sometimes I can get it set so the background doesn't flash/change color, but that's the exception not the rule. Most of the time it changes color back and forth, and is annoying. What am I doing wrong, and how do I set it up correctly?
