Poor bass performance

Noise
• Makesureallconnectionstothepowered
subwoofersaregoodandsound.
• Makesurenoneofthesignalcablesarerouted
nearACcables,powertransformers,orother
EMI-inducingdevices.
• IstherealightdimmerorotherSCR-based
deviceonthesameACcircuitastheHD1801?
UseanAClinelterorplugtheHD1801intoa
differentACcircuit.
Hum
• Trydisconnectingthecableconnectedtothe
maininputjack.Ifthenoisedisappears,it
couldbea“groundloop,”ratherthanaproblem
withtheHD1801.Trysomeofthefollowing
troubleshootingideas:
•Usebalancedconnectionsthroughoutyour
systemforthebestnoiserejection.
•Wheneverpossible,plugalltheaudio
equipment’slinecordsintooutletswhich
shareacommonground.Thedistance
betweentheoutletsandthecommon
groundshouldbeasshortaspossible.

green?Ifnot,makesuretheACoutletislive.If
so,referto“Nosound”below.
• TheinternalAClinefusemaybeblown.Thisis
notauserserviceablepart.Ifyoususpectthe
AClinefuseisblown,pleaseseethe"Repair"
sectionnext.
No sound
• Istheinputlevelcontrolfortheinputsource
turnedallthewaydown?Verifythatallthe
volumecontrolsinthesystemareproperly
adjusted.
• Isthesignalsourceworking?Makesurethe
connectingcablesareingoodrepairand
securelyconnectedatbothends.Makesurethe
outputvolume(gain)controlonthemixing
consoleisturnedupsufcientlytodrivethe
inputsofthespeaker.
• MakesurethemixerdoesnothaveaMuteon
oraProcessorloopengaged.Ifyound
somethinglikethis,makesurethevolume/
gainisturneddownbeforedisengagingthe
offendingswitch.
• Isthethermalindicatorlitredontherear
panel?Makesurethereisatleastsixinchesof
freespacebehindtheHD1801.
