312 Configuring Switch Information
Defining Port Mirroring Sessions
Port mirroring does the following:
• Monitors and mirrors network traffic by forwarding copies of incoming and outgoing packets from one
port to a monitoring port.
• Can be used as a diagnostic tool and/or a debugging feature.
• Enables device performance and monitoring.
Port mirroring is configured by selecting a specific port to copy all packets, and different ports from
which the packets are copied.
Before configuring Port Mirroring, note the following:
• Port mirroring monitors and mirrors network traffic by forwarding copies of incoming and outgoing
packets, from a monitored port to a monitoring port.
• Monitored port cannot operate faster than the monitoring port.
• All the RX/TX packets should be monitored to the same port.
The following restrictions apply to ports configured to be destination ports:
• Ports cannot be configured as a source port.
• Ports cannot be a LAG member.
• IP interfaces are not configured on the port.
• GVRP is not enabled on the port.
• The port is not a VLAN member.
• Only one destination port can be defined.
The following restrictions apply to ports configured to be source ports:
• Source Ports cannot be a LAG member.
• Ports cannot be configured as a destination port.
•
Mirroring supports 4 ports in this device
