Connecting the NIC to Your Network
This section describes how to connect the OfficeConnect
NIC to a network device. For more information on
networking or creating a peer-to-peer network, see
the Network Assistant CD included in your package.
To connect the OfficeConnect NIC to a network device:
1 Using an unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable, insert
one of the RJ-45 connectors on the cable into the
RJ-45 port on the installed NIC, as shown in Figure 4.
■ If you’re connecting to a 10 Mbps Ethernet network,
use a Category 3, 4, or 5 UTP cable.
■ If you’re connecting to a 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet
network, use a Category 5 UTP cable.

for more information on network cabling requirements.
