Troubleshooting
Dots appear and remain on the screen.
• This is not a malfunction. These dots are not recorded (page 2).
The image seen through the finder does not indicate the actual recordable
range.
• The parallax phenomenon is occurring when the subject is close. To confirm the recordable
range, use the LCD screen.
Cannot shoot images in succession.
• The internal memory or “Memory Stick Duo” is full. Delete unnecessary images (page 28).
• The battery level is low. Install charged battery pack.
Your camera cannot play back images.
• Press (Playback) button (page 28).
• The folder/file name has been changed on your computer (page 73).
• When an image file has been processed by a computer or when the image file was recorded
using a model other than that of your camera, playback on your camera is not guaranteed.
• The camera is in USB mode. Delete the USB connection (page 71).
The date and time are not displayed.
• DISP (Screen display switch) button is turned off (page 16).
The image appears rough right after playback starts.
• The image may appear rough right after playback starts due to image processing. This is not a
malfunction.
Color unevenness may appear during video playback.
• This is not a malfunction. The recorded images are not affected.
Images are not displayed on the screen.
• Remove the cable for multi-use terminal (DSC-W55) or the A/V cable (DSC-W35) if the
cable is connected (page 61).
The image does not appear on the TV screen.
• Check [Video Out] to see if the video output signal of your camera is set to the color system
of your TV (page 60).
• Check whether the connection is correct (page 61).
• When the cable for multi-use terminal is connected to the USB jack, remove the cable (DSC-
W55 only).
