Joystick Raise and Lower Switches
The joystick raise and lower switches are located on the
joystickassembly that is attached tothe controlconsole.
Therearswitchisusedtolowerthecuttingunitsandthe
front switch to raise them (Fig. 60). The switches are
identical and are shown in Figure 61.The Toro Electron-
ic Controller (TEC) monitors theoperationof thejoystick
raise and lower switches.
Testing
1. Park machine on level surface, lower cutting units,
stop engine, apply parking brake and remove key from
ignition switch.
2. Before disconnecting the joystick switches for test-
ing,the switchesand their circuitwiring should betested
asaTEC electricalinputusingthe Hand HeldDiagnostic
Display (see Hand Held Diagnostic Display in the Trou-
bleshooting section of this chapter) or InfoCenter Dis-
play (see InfoCenter Display in this chapter). If input
testing verifies that the joystick switches and circuit wir-
ing are functioning correctly, no further switch testing is
necessary. If, however, input testingdetermines that the
joystick switches and circuit wiring are not functioning
correctly, proceed with the following joystick switch test-
ing procedure.
3. Remove console cover from console assembly to
gain access to joystick switches (see Control Console
Disassembly in the Service and Repairs section of
Chapter 7 -- Chassis).
4. Make sure ignition switch is in the OFF position. Dis-
connect wire harness connectors from joystick
switches.
5. Check the continuity of the raise switch by connect-
ing a multimeter (ohms setting) across the switch con-
nector terminals as follows:
A. With the joystickin the neutral position, continuity
should only exist between the common and NC ter-
minals.
B. With the joystick in the raise position, continuity
should only exist between the common and NO ter-
minals.
6. Check the continuity of the lower switch by connect-
ing a multimeter (ohms setting) across the switch con-
nector terminals as follows:
A. Withthe joystick in the neutral position, continuity
should only exist between the common and NC ter-
minals.
B. With the joystick in the lower position, continuity
should only exist between the common and NO ter-
minals.
7. Replace joystick switch if necessary.
8. After switch testing is completed, connect the har-
ness connectors to thejoystick switches. Install console
cover (see Control Console Assembly in the Service
and Repairs section of Chapter 7 -- Chassis).
