Setting up the Server for Event Monitoring by the Knowledge Module 6-11
Enabling a PATROL Agent
The pasetup command-line program (Unix host and Windows NT server)
and the PATROL DB-Admin KM Setup GUI (Windows NT server)
configures or sets up PATROL Agents, which consolidate the events from
a PATROL DB-Change Manager service provider (SVP) that is local to
the host. This configuration information includes the host name and port
number where the PATROL Agent resides, in addition to a valid user
name and password that can be used on the agent.
The
pasetup program and the PATROL DB-Admin KM Setup GUI also
allow you to delete and change agent information. Adding or deleting an
agent that is configured for an active PATROL DB-Change Manager SVP
starts or stops the PATROL Application Management monitoring for that
SVP. The following sections present information about these methods of
entering information about an agent.
Note
The \jobs directory must be set to the valid path that the PATROL
DB-Change Manager SVP uses.
Providing PATROL Agent Information on the pasetup

use the following syntax. Table 6-1 provides descriptions of the
command line options.

-u

-x

• delete an agent and stop its job monitoring:
pasetup -d -h

port
