Mounting the SIRIUS Antenna
The SIRIUS antenna has powerful magnetic
mounting to hold on place to metal surface. The
antenna’s tail protects the exposed portion of
antenna cable from the elements. The tail has
an adhesive strip that will firmly adhere it to the
vehicle.
1 Find an antenna location on a metal surface al
least 12"x12" (30.5cm x 30.5cm). Best reception
is achieved with antenna mounted on the
roof; mounting on the trunk lid will work for
convertibles.
6½"
6½"
• For the best reception, the antenna should be mounted
exactly 6.5" (16.5cm) away from the vehicle’s rear
window, so that only the portion of the cable that will be
protected by the tail is exposed.
• If the vehicle has a roof rack or skid ribs, it may be
necessary to mount antenna off-center, away from
obstructions that could interfere with reception.
2 Use the provided alcohol wipe (Accessory8-3) to
clean the general aria where the antenna and tail
are to be mounted on the vehicle.
3 Place the antenna at the selected location. The
magnet will adhere it to the vehicle.
4 Dry-fit the antenna tail (Accessory8-1)onto the
antenna cable, ensuring that the tail fits snugly
against the antenna housing, and that the
entire cable properly fit into the recess on the
underside of the tail.
5 Remove the protective form one side of the
adhesive (Accessory8-2) and firmly adhere the
stripe to the bottom of the tail, attaching it to the
antenna cable.
6 Remove the protective form other side of the
adhesive (Accessory8-2), place the antenna
housing in the location you have selected and
firmly adhere the tail to the vehicle.
7 Route the exposed portion of the antenna cable
from the end of the tail to the vehicle’s interior
by tucking it underneath the rubber molding
around the vehicle’s rear window.
• It is important that the insulation on the SIRIUS antenna
cable does not become cut or nicked during the installa-
tion produce.
• Do not route or pull the SIRIUS antenna cable against
sharp edges or around sharp corners.
8 Route the cable from lowest point of the window
in to the trunk. Running antenna cable under the
interior trim that connecting the antenna input
to the unit.
• SIRIUS antenna installation should be carried out at or
above room temperature. Colder temperatures could
affect the curing time antenna tails adhesive. At room
temperature, maximum adhesion usually occurs within
72 hours. During this period, car washes and other
contact with antenna and tail should be avoided. Warmer
temperatures will also make it easier to route the antenna
cable around any windows or other obstructions.
