Usagesituations where appliance’spower cordwillbe disconnected
infrequently.
Becauseof potentialsafety
hazards under certain conditions,
we strongly recommend against
the use of an adapter plug. However,
ifyou still electto use an adapter,
where local codes permit,
a TEMPORARYCONNECTIONmay
bemadeto aproperly grounded
2-prong wallreceptacle by the useof
a UL-listed adapter which is available
atmostlocal hardwarestores.
The larger slot in the adapter must be aligned withthe largerslot
inthe wallreceptacle to provideproper polarityin the connection
ofthe power cord.
CAUTION:Attachingthe adapterground terminal
to the wall receptaclecover screw doesnot groundthe appliance
unless the cover screw is metal, andnot insulated, and thewall
receptacle is grounded through thehouse wiring.
You shouldhave the circuit checkedby aqualifiedelectricianto make
sure the receptacle is properly grounded.
When disconnectingthe power cordfrom theadapter, always hold the
adapterwithone hand.If thisis not done, the adapter groundterminal
isverylikely to breakwith repeated use.Shouldthis happen, DONOT
USE the appliance until aproper ground hasagain been established.
Usagesituations where appliance’spower cordwillbe disconnected
frequently:
Donot usean adapter plugin these situations because frequent
disconnection of the power cordplacesundue strainon the adapter
and leads to eventual failure of the adapter ground terminal. You should
have the2-prongwallreceptaclereplaced with a3-prong(grounding)
receptaclebya qualified electricianbefore using the appliance.
