to store in memory, press one of the preset
tuning buttons (1/S.Rtrv/DVD MENU to 6/
/ANGLE) and hold until the preset num-
ber stops flashing.
Stored radio station frequency can be recalled
by pressing the preset tuning button.
# You can also recall stored radio stations by
pressing a or b during the frequency display.
Function settings
1 Press M.C. to display the main menu.
2 Turn M.C. to change the menu option
and press to select FUNCTION.
3 Turn M.C. to select the function.
After selecting, perform the following proce-
dures to set the function.
BSM (best stationsmemory)
BSM (best stationsmemory) automatically storesthe
six strongest stationsin the orderof their signal
strength.
1 PressM.C. to turn BSMon.
To cancel,press M.C. again.
LOCAL (localseek tuning)
Local seektuning letsyou tune into only thoseradio
stations with sufficientlystrong signals forgood re-
ception.
1 PressM.C. to display thesetting mode.
2 Turn M.C.to select the desiredsetting.
FM: OFF—LEVEL 1—LEVEL 2—LEVEL3—LEVEL

AM: OFF—LEVEL 1—LEVEL2
The larger thesetting number, thehigher the sig-
nal level. Thehighest level settingallows recep-
tion ofonly the strongest stations;while lower
settings letyou receive progressively weakersta-
tions.
3 PressM.C. to confirm theselection.
Note
Operation is complete even if the menu is can-
celled before being confirmed.

Basic Operations
Playing a disc
1 Insert the discinto the discloading slot withthe
label sideup.
If adisc has already beeninserted, press SRC/
OFF toselect DVD (built-in DVDplayer).
Ejecting adisc
1 Press h.
Selecting afolder
1 Press a or b.
You cannot selecta folder thatdoes nothave a
compressed audio file,JPEG file orDivX file re-
corded init.
Selecting achapter/track/file
1 Press c or d.
You can alsoskip back or forward toanother
chapter/track/file by pressingo or p.
During PBCplayback, amenu may bedisplayed
if you perform theseoperations.
Fast forwarding orreversing
1 Pressand hold cor d.
When DVD, DivXdisc or VideoCD isplaying, if
you press andhold c ord for five seconds,the
icon mor n ishighlighted. Whenthis hap-
pens, fastreverse/fast forward continueseven if
you releasec or d.To resume playback ata de-
sired point,press f.
Returning toroot folder
1 Pressand hold BAND/ESC.
Notes
! When the automatic playback function is on,
this unit will cancel the DVD menu and auto-
matically start playback from the first chapter
of the first title. Refer to Automatic playback of
DVDs on page 14.
! If you are playing a DVD or Video CD, a menu
may appear. Refer to Operating the DVD menu
on page 15 and PBC playback on the next
page.
! When loading a CD/CD-R/RW containing
JPEG picture files, this unit automatically
starts a slideshow from the first folder/picture
on the disc. The player displays the pictures in
each folder in alphabetical order.
