! When playing discs that do not specify
PANSCAN, the disc is played back in
LETTER BOX display even if you select the
PANSCAN setting. Confirm whether the disc
package bears the
16 : 9 LB
mark.
! The TVaspect ratio cannot be changed for
some discs. For details, refer to the discs in-
structions.
Setting the slide show interval
JPEG filescan be viewed asa slide showon this unit.
In thissetting, the interval between eachimage can
be set.
1 Move thethumb pad up ordown to selectSLIDE-
SHOW TIMEin PICT.
2 Click thethumb pad
A slideshow interval timemenu is displayed.
3 Move thethumb pad up ordown to selectthe de-
sired TVaspect.

! 20secJPEGimages switch at intervals of20

4 Click thethumb pad
The slideshow interval timeis set.
Setting parental lock
Some DVDvideo discs let youuse parental lockto re-
strict childrenfrom viewing violent andadult-oriented
scenes. You can setparental lock tothe desired level.
! Whenyou havea parental locklevel set and play
a discfeaturing parental lock, codenumber input
indications may bedisplayed. In suchcases, play-
back willbegin when the correctcode number is
entered.
Setting the codenumber and level
A codenumber mustbe registered inorder to play
back discs withparental lock.
1 Move thethumb pad up ordown to selectPAR-
ENTAL in GEN.
2 Click thethumb pad
Parental lock setting menuis displayed.
3 Press0 to 9to input afour digit code number.
4 Move thethumb pad left orright to movethe cur-
sor tothe previous or next position.
5 Click thethumb pad after enteringthe four digit
code number.
The codenumber isset, and thelevel can nowbe
set.
6 Move thethumb pad left orright to selectthe de-
sired level.
! LEVEL8Playbackof the entiredisc is possi-
ble (initialsetting)
! LEVEL7to LEVEL2Playback ofdiscs for
children and non-adult-orienteddiscs is pos-
sible
! LEVEL1Playbackof discs forchildren only
is possible
7 Click thethumb pad
The parentallock levelis set.
Notes
! We recommend to keep a record of your code
number in case you forget it.
! The parental lock level is stored on the disc.
Look for the level indication written on the
disc package, included literature or on the
disc itself. Parental lock of this unit is not pos-
sible if a parental lock level is not stored on
the disc.
! With some discs, the parental lock may be ac-
tive only for certain levels of scenes. The play-
back of those scenes will be skipped. For
details, refer to the instruction manual that
came with the disc.
