Periodic Maintenance Procedures
Idle Speed Adjustment
•
Start the engine and warm it up thoroughly.
•
Turn the idle adjusting screw [A] until the idle speed is
correct.

Open and close the throttle a few times to make sure that
the idle speed is within the specified range.
Fuel System Cleanliness Inspection
WARNING
Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be ex-
plosive under certain conditions. Turn the ignition
switch OFF. Do not smoke. Make sure the area is
well-ventilated and free from any source of flame
or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot
light.
•
Remove the check valve [A] at the end of the carburetor
overflow hose [B].
•
Run the lower end of the carburetor overflow hose to a
suitable container.
•
Turn out the carburetor drain plugs [A] a few turns and
drain the fuel system.

57001-1269
•
Check to see if water or dirt comes out.
•
Tighten the drain plugs.
If any water or dirt appears during the above inspection,
clean the fuel system (carburetor, fuel pump, fuel tank,
fuel hose).
