8. Start the Matrix Switchers Control Program and connect to the matrix switcher. See

“Using the Matrix Switcher Control Software,” steps 1 through 4, starting on

page 76.

9. Click Tools > Update ﬁrmware.

 If the switcher is connected via the LAN port, the Select Files dialog box

appears (see ﬁgure 39). See Ethernet-connected ﬁrmware upload, below.

 If the switcher is connected via either serial port, the Extron Firmware

Loader

appears (see ﬁgure 40 and “Serial-port-connected ﬁrmware upload,”

on the next page).

NOTES: • Validrmwarelesmusthavetheleextension.S19.Alewithany

other extension is not a ﬁrmware upgrade.

 • Theoriginalfactory-installedrmwareispermanentlyavailableonthe

MPX866Amatrixswitcher.Iftheattemptedrmwareuploadfailsfor

anyreason,theswitcherrevertstothefactory-installedrmware.
