Scan Settings
The following table shows the available scan settings that can be
defined in a template and a description of each.
Category Setting Description
Basic Original Type Auto (default) automatically detects the type of original. Text
indicates that the original is text or line art. Photo indicates that
the original is a photograph.
Auto
Exposure
Used for enhancing documents with colored backgrounds by
adjusting for different types of images. On (checkbox selected)
selects an appropriate exposure level for the original document.
Off (checkbox deselected) uses the Lighten/Darken setting for
the exposure level.
Sides Imaged Prints the image on one or two sides of the paper.
Document
Options
Original Size Selects the page dimensions of the scanned image to match the
original size. Normal specifies a standard size (Letter or A4).
Pre-set specifies a pre-defined size. Custom specifies a size
that you set.
Image
Adjust-
ment
Lighten/Dark
en
Lightens or darkens the brightness of the printed image.
Contrast Adjust the clarity (difference in gray shades) of the printed
image. Increased contrast makes the image more defined in
black and white. Decreased contrast makes the image more
defined in gray tones.
Graphics
Normal sets the continuous-tone reproduction to 106 dpi screens.
Emulate DocuTech allows Xerox DocuTech users to set the
continuos-tone reproduction to emulate the DocuTech at a lower 85
dpi screen setting.
Sharpen/Soft-
en
Softens or makes the edges of the printed image more
pronounced.
Image
Options
Resolution Prints the image in a selected number of dots per inch (dpi). A
higher dpi, such as 600 x 600, produces a higher quality image,
but creates a larger file size.
Edge Erase
Erases the left/right/top/bottom margins of the document.
