SUBAUDIBLE TONE OPERATION
■ Tone squelch operation
◊Operation
The tone squelch opens only when receiving a signal con-
taining a matching subaudible tone. You can silently wait for
calls from group members using the same tone in an ama-
teur band.
q Set the operating frequency in FM mode.
w Set the desired subaudible tone in set mode.
•See the following section for programming.
e Push [FUNC] + [(MODE)SET] momentarily to enter set
mode.
•Select a non-band scope screen in advance for color LCD.
r Rotate [DIAL] until “Tone Squelch” or “tSqL” appears.
•“tSqL” disappears after 1 sec. and “to” appears when color LCD
is OFF.
t Push [↔] or rotate the tuning dial while pushing [FUNC] to
select “TSQL” (tone squelch).
y Push [(MODE)SET] to exit set mode and start the tone
squelch.
u When the received signal includes a matching tone, the
squelch opens and the signal can be heard.
•When the received signal’s tone does not match, tone squelch
does not open, however, the S-indicator shows signal strength.
•To open the squelch manually, push and hold [SQL]. (default)
i To cancel the tone squelch, repeat steps e–y as de-
scribed above and select “OFF” in step t.

q Select VFO mode or desired memory channel to be pro-
grammed.
