Message Cause Action
ERROR-MIC The microphone is not connected. Plug the optional microphone securely into
the jack.

Handling guidelines
Discs and player
Use only discs featuring anyof following logos.
Use 12-cm discs. Do notuse 8-cm discs or an adapter
for 8-cm discs.
Use only conventional, fully circular discs.Do not use
shaped discs.
Do not insert anything otherthan a DVD (-R/-RW) or
CD (-R/-RW) into the discloading slot.
Do not use cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise
damaged discs as they maydamage the player.
Unfinalized CD-R/CD-RW discs cannot be played
back.
Do not touch therecorded surface of the discs.
Store discs in their caseswhen not in use.
Do not attach labels, writeon or apply chemicals to
the surface of the discs.
To clean a disc,wipe the disc with a soft cloth out-
ward from the center.
Condensation may temporarily impair the players
per formance. Let it restfor about one hour to adjust
to a warmer temperature. Also,wipe any damp discs
off with a soft cloth.
Playback of discs maynot be possible because of
disc characteristics, disc format, recorded applica-
tion, playback environment, storage conditions, and
so on.
Road shocks may interrupt disc playback.
Read the precautions fordiscs before using them.
Certain functions may not beavailable for some DVD
video discs.
It may not bepossible to play back some DVD video
discs.
It is not possible toplay back DVD-RAM discs.
This unit is notcompatible with discs recorded in
AVCHD (Advanced VideoCodec High Definition) for-
mat. Do not insert AVCHD discs as you maynot be
able to eject thedisc.

Additional Information
USB storage device
Depending on the external storage device (USB), the
following problems may occur.
! Operations may vary.
! Thestorage device may not be recognized.
! Filesmay not be played back properly.
USB storage device
Connections via USB hub arenot supported.
Do not connect anything otherthan a USB storage
device.
Firmly secure the USBstorage device when driving.
Do not let theUSB storage device fall onto the floor,
where it may become jammed under thebrake or ac-
celerator pedal.
Depending on the USB storagedev ice, the device
may cause noise to occur in the radio.
Copyright protected files that arestored in the USB
devices cannot be played back.
You cannot connect a USB portable audioplayer/USB
memory to this unit via USBhub.
Partitioned USB memory is not compatible with this
unit.
Depending on the kind ofUSB portable audio player/
USB memory you use, the device maynot be recog-
nized or audio files maynot be played back properly.
Do not leave theUSB portable audio player/USB
memory in direct sunlight forextended amounts of
time. Doing so may causethe device to malfunction
from the extreme rise intemperature.
iPod
To ensure proper operation, connect the dockconnec-
tor cable from theiPod directly to thisunit.
Firmly secure the iPod when driving. Donot let the
iPod fall onto thefloor, where it may become jammed
under the brake or acceleratorpedal.
About iPod settings
! Whenan iPod isconnected, this unit changes the
EQ (equalizer) setting of the iPod to off in order to
optimize the acoustics. When you disconnectthe
iPod, theEQ returns to the original setting.
! You cannot set Repeat tooff on the iPod when
using this unit. Repeat isautomatically changed
to All when theiPod is connected tothis unit.
Incompatible text saved on theiPod will not bedis-
played by the unit.
DVD-R/DVD-RW discs
Unfinalized DVD-R/-RW discs which have been re-
corded in the Videoform at (video mode) cannot be
played back.
Playback of DVD-R/DVD-RW discs may notbe possi-
ble, due to disccharacteristics, scratches or dirt on
the disc, or dirt,condensation, etc. on the lens of this
unit.
Depending on the application settings and the envir-
onment, playback of discsrecorded on a personal
computer may not be possible. (For details, contact
the manufacturer of the application.)
CD-R/CD-RW discs
When CD-R/CD-RW discs are used, playback ispossi-
ble only for discswhich have been finalized.
Playback of CD-R/CD-RW discs recorded ona music
CD recorder or a personalcomputer may not bepos-
sible due to disc characteristics, scratches or dirton
the disc, or dirt,condensation, etc., on the lens of this
unit.
Depending on the application settings and the envir-
onment, playback of discsrecorded on a personal
computer may not be possible. (For details, contact
the manufacturer of the application.)
Playback of CD-R/CD-RW discs may becomeimpossi-
ble in case ofdirect exposure to sunlight, high tem-
peratures, or the storage conditions in the vehicle.
Titles and other textinformation recorded on a CD-R/
CD-RW disc may not be displayedby this unit (in the
case of audio data (CD-DA)).
DualDiscs
DualDiscs are two-sided discs that havea recordable
CD for audio on oneside and a recordable DVD for
video on the other.
Playback of the DVD sideis possible with this unit.
However, since the CDside of DualDiscs is not physi-
cally compatible with the general CD standard, itmay
not be possible toplay the CD side with this unit.
