! External unit refers to a Pioneer product (such
as ones available in the future) that, although
incompatible as a source, enables control of
basic functions with this unit. Twoexternal
units can be controlled with this unit. When
two external units are connected, the external
unit is automatically allocated to external unit
1 or external unit 2 by this unit.
! When this units blue/white lead is connected
to the cars auto-antenna relay control term-
inal, the cars antenna extends when this
units source is turned on. Toretract the an-
tenna, turn the source off. (When you con-
nected a Pioneer multi-channel processor
(DEQ-P6600) to this unit, auto-antenna cannot
be controled.)
Adjusting the volume
% Turn VOLUME to adjust the sound
level.
# With the remote control, press VOLUME to in-
crease or decrease the volume.
Tuner
Basic Operations
% Selecting a band
Press BAND/ESC.
# Band can be selected from among FM1, FM2
or MW/LW.
% Manual tuning (step by step)
Press c or d.
% Seeking tuning
Press and hold c or d, and then release.
# You can cancel seek tuning by briefly pressing
c or d.
# While pressing and holding c or d, you can
skip stations. Seek tuning starts as soon as you
release c or d.
Note
RDS (radio data system) contains inaudible infor-
mation that helps search for the radio stations.
! RDS service maynot be provided by all sta-
tions.
! RDS functions such as AFand TA are only ac-
tive when your radio is tuned to an RDS sta-
tion.
! This units AF (alternative frequencies search)
function can be turned on and off. AF should
be off for normal tuning operation (refer to
page 17).
Storing and recalling broadcast
frequencies
If you press any of the preset tuning buttons 1/
S.Rtrv to 6/
you can easily store up to six
broadcast frequencies for later recall with the
touch of a button.
! Six stations for each band can be stored in
memory.
