AdvAnced nmeA oUtpUt setUp
If interfacing the GPSMAP 695/696 with another piece of equipment (such as an
autopilot), the unit needs to be set to output NMEA data. If the NMEA output mode is
set to ‘Fast’, the unit will output a minimum number of NMEA sentences at 1-second
intervals. If the NMEA output is set to ‘Normal’, the unit will output a greater number
NMEA sentences as 2-second intervals.
Setting NMEA output mode:
1)
Press the MENU Key twice to select the Main Menu.
2)
Turn or move the FMS Joystick to select ‘System Setup’, and press the ENT
Key.
3)
Turn or move the FMS Joystick to select ‘Interface’, and press the ENT Key.
4)
With the ‘Serial Data Format’ field highlighted, turn the FMS Joystick to
select ‘NMEA In/Out’.
5)
Move the FMS Joystick to highlight the ‘NMEA Output Mode’ field.
6)
Turn the FMS Joystick to select ‘Normal’ or ‘Fast’.
